Dondra Head
Dondra Head is situated in the southernmost tip in Sri
Lanka. It is situated in Devinuwara Matara Distict. Devinuwara is a historical
city which has over 2000 year’s old history. English meaning of
"Devinuwara" is City of God. There is a famous "Devalaya"
at the center of the city named "Vishnu Dewalaya" which is dedicated
to Lord "Vishnu".

Dondra Light
House
Dondra Light House is situated near Devinuwara Vishnu
Dewalaya. It is a Historical Landmark and it is a very important location as
well. This was built in 1889 by British during the colonial period. It was
designed by Sir James Nicholas Douglass, a prominent lighthouse engineer. It
was Constructed with granite and bricks imported from England. This historical
landmark is currently managed by Sri Lanka Port Authority.
